Healthy Easy Meals & Snacks for Work & School | ||
![]()
Our busy schedules are often even busier in September – back to work, back to school or college, resuming gym or yoga classes, and after-school activities or sports. Proper nutrition is vital to maintaining the focus, energy and stamina that we and our children need for successful, productive days. Fast food, grab-and-go snacks, and highly processed cafeteria foods contain too little of what we need and too much of what we don’t want in our bodies. With a little planning, it’s easy to prepare healthy meals and snacks to power us through our busy days.
Nutritional Basics Let’s start with universally supportive nutritional tips that apply to everyone:
Optimizing Breakfast ![]() The breakfast that works well for one person is problematic for another. A powerhouse breakfast of carbs and protein – basically having a “dinner” for breakfast – works well for the Pituitary body type – but an Adrenal body type consuming a heavy breakfast like steak and eggs will overstimulate their Adrenals, causing them to be hungry and wanting more food all day, generally leading to excess weight gain. An ideal breakfast for an Adrenal type would exclude dense protein in favor of vegetables or fruit, adding yogurt or cottage cheese for a busy morning. The best time to eat breakfast varies by body type. Pituitary body types do well with a large breakfast between 7:00 – 8:00 AM, while the Brain body type prefers a moderate breakfast around 10:00 – with no protein consumption until after 11:00. Other types including Eye and Thyroid are more flexible in the time and size of their breakfast. Fruit, being a natural whole food, is often considered an “anytime” food. In reality fruit – and fruit juice - contain concentrated sugars which can raise blood sugar levels if eaten when your body cannot handle it. In my research for the 25 Body Type System, I found that there are recommended times of day to consume fruit, and these times vary by body type. Five body types (Adrenal, Eye, Pituitary, Spleen and Thyroid) can eat fruit any time of the day, while those having a Stomach body type should avoid fruit at breakfast or may experience fatigue or sluggishness. Read more about consuming fruit. Families that include multiple different body types may have more of a challenge in planning breakfast together, depending upon which body types. Comparing the Sample Menus in the Profile & Diet book for each type in your family can provide helpful ideas and show where there is overlap between types. Learn more about breakfast. Healthy Snacks & Smoothies Pre-planning snacks for yourself or your family is worthwhile. A healthy “quick fix” can alleviate the sugar cravings that tempt us into unhealthy convenience foods. Cravings indicate the body isn’t receiving, or isn’t assimilating, enough protein. Sugar is the transport mechanism to get protein across the blood-brain barrier, which is a reason we sometimes crave sugar, especially after dinner. Sluggishness also indicates a drop in minerals and nutrients, which can be the result of too much sugar. Fruit after dinner can provide sugar without depleting minerals. If your body type doesn’t do well with fruit in the evening, use Re-Vita – I find that just a small fraction of a teaspoon of Re-Vita is usually enough to satisfy the sugar craving. Nuts and seeds provide concentrated fat and protein – providing an instant energy “lift”, without needing to eat that much. Add dry fruit, or veggies. These are quick and easy snacks to prepare and carry. Cashews and pumpkin seeds are good for most body types. Celery with almond butter or cashew butter is an easy snack that works for most. Sunflower seed butter with honey (to sweeten the taste) is good on celery, while slices of apples and cheese is another tasty snack idea that’s easy to prepare. Pineal body types are better with seeds rather than nuts. If pre-roasted, look for unsalted, then add Pink Salt. Or, you can roast them or soak them yourself. Here are instructions on soaking and roasting nuts. Almond, pecan or hazelnut milk with honey or avocado also provides quick, concentrated protein and fat. After schools snacks for kids may be meat slices and veggies – such as turkey with cucumber. A little Pink Salt adds flavor to veggies while aiding digestion and providing trace minerals. Smoothies can be a healthy snack or a good meal replacement. If including fruit, ensure the time of day is good for your body type. I have found several high quality protein powders that can be added to a smoothie or simply blended with water or a beverage. For suggestions about other creative and healthy additives, read more about making healthy smoothies. I encourage you to experiment and come up with your own combinations and variety. Having easy-to-carry, and pre-prepared, options that are healthy, tasty and satisfying will reduce the cravings for less healthy convenience foods. Eating healthy – especially as a family – would be much easier if our nutritional needs were the same. But different body types have very different needs. The 60 page Profile & Diet book for each body type includes food lists, sample menus, and nutritional guidelines to help optimize your weight, health, focus, energy and stamina. Discover your body type and “eat right for your body type.”

![]() Humility essential oil can be used to transmute Tired into Rejuvenated. The emotion of Tired is stored in the Pancreatic duct, which is accessed by applying Humility essential oil to the acupuncture point just below the sternum and to the left. Use the statement “I am renewed” – watch the demonstration video (below). Not Good Enough is a common emotion that most people deal with or have dealt with in one form or another in their lives. When an emotion is a Core Emotional Issue it shows up as a central theme, being more of a challenge than otherwise. The gift of a Core Emotional Issue is that when mastered it becomes a strength. Not Good Enough is a Core Emotional Issue for the Intestinal, Gonadal and Heart body types. Additional emotions Humility transmutes are Insulted and Less Than.
